Good ol' Westminster Abbey. Unfortunately, pictures were not allowed inside. It is a large cathedral, but it is packed full of tombs. Henry VII, Elizabeth I and her sister Mary are buried here along with most of the other Kings and Queens of England's history. Chaucer is buried here as well, with a bunch of other artists and writers in one corner of the building. Oliver Cromwell was buried here until the restoration of the monarchy in 1661, at which point his body was removed and posthumously executed and drawn and quartered; his severed head remained on display on a pole outside the abbey until 1685. Statues, monuments, and memorials are crammed into every corner and crevice of the building. Notable among the latter is the Royal Air Force Chapel, with a memorial window which includes the crests of the 68 fighter squadrons that defended Britian from Hitler's Luftwaffe in 1940. Interesting Note: As the cathedral is still used for regular worship services, the priests ask for a moment of silence once an hour.
And with that, I bid you a fond farewell. Adieu. Until tomorrow.
